Quick update: Just this week, Tru is starting to chew on things like crazy.  She soaks the top of her outfits and will attempt capture any finger that moves within range.

11-28-2012

• 9:00p Checked in to the hospital.  Overland Park Regional, 3rd floor, suite 3600.  Nice room.  Big.  Bathroom with a shower and tub.  Nurse name "Amber."
• 10:30p Cervidil.

11-29-2012

• 6:00a Woke up when Amber came in.  DeeDee took a shower.  Zip lock on the IV drip stint thingy.
• 6:15a Removed Cervidil.
• 6:30a Started saline drip.  Restrapped baby and contraction monitors.  Retaped IV stint.  Added orange allergy wrist tag. Reported contractions ten minutes apart.  DeeDee can't feel them.
• 7:00a Nurse name "Leah."  Pronounced "Leia" as in "lee-ah."  Yes, hear me today and believe me tomorrow.
• 7:10a She checked cervix.  Posterior-positioned, 2cm, 70% effaced! Started Pitocin drip.  2ml per hour to start.  Will up it in 20 minutes.  We're hoping for cramping.  Time to pay for nine months of cramp freedom.
• 7:22a DeeDee imagines slight slight pre-cramp feeling, lower abdomen.
• 7:35a Reviewed photos taken so far.
• 7:43a Joy came in to attach antibiotic (Clindamycin) drip, via saline drip.  Also upping Pitocin to 4ml per hour.
• 8:00a Relaxing and trying to sleep a bit more.
• 8:05a DeeDee reports first actual "something."  Cramps. Good thing!
• 8:09a Leah checked in.  Contractions can show up as downward spikes.  Which they are, see photos.  Up Pitocin to 6ml per hour.  DeeDee reports headache (pain level 1).  Cramps (pain level 1.5).
• 8:47a Leah checks in.  Brings in coworker, Michelle.  Blood pressure check. Up'd Pitocin to 8ml per hour.
• 9:00a Dr. Stone checks in. Blood pressure is fine.  Labs are fine.  She will not be on call tonight.  Picking up brother's bed?  Says we should have baby at 3p to get her out of her office duties.  Contractions are three minutes apart, roughly.  Says cervix needs to dilate more.  Because of Group B, they shouldn't check too often.  We'll KNOW when something is happening.
• 9:08a Michelle ups Pitocin to 10ml per hour.  Says DeeDee doesn't have to stay in bed.  Can move around.
• 9:30a Michelle ups Pitocin to 12ml per hour.
• 9:32a Contractions are roughly every three minutes.  They want them same frequency, but stronger.
• 9:39a Michelle ups Pitocin to 14ml per hour.
• 9:58a Grape popsicle to help metallic taste in mouth.
• 10:03a Michelle ups Pitocin to 16ml per hour.  Pain report "4."
• 10:40a Michelle and Leah both come in to check.  DeeDee bathroom break.  Pitocin to 18ml per hour.  Estimated.  Missed the precise time.
• 11:06a Michelle ups Pitocin to 20ml per hour.
• 11:33a Michelle and Leah check in.  Want to check cervix.  Will do it within an hour or so.
• 12:05p DeeDee bathroom break.
• 12:20p Ball squat time!  Little trouble keeping monitors in place.  Lots of DeeDee hiccups.  Michelle spending a lot of time in here.  Good thing!
• 12:45p Cervix check 7cm - not so posterior any more.
• 12:50p Pain report "6"
• 12:52p Water Broke
• Whirlwind!!!!!!
• 1:50p Birth!
• Placenta out est. 5 minutes later
• Pitocen drip on max
